Mount Sinai · Telehealth
As one of the largest hospitals in the US during COVID-19, Mount Sinai saw a surge in virtual care demand. I led end-to-end design for a rapid, mobile-first urgent telehealth experience.

The Problem
Mount Sinai patients needed a way to safely connect with doctors during COVID-19. No easy pathway for same-day or sooner visits existed. The telehealth market was valued at $30B, but implementation had to be rapid and mobile-first.
Process
I conducted a needs assessment survey on UserTesting.com to understand patient mental models about urgent versus routine health concerns. I unified learnings from research, existing pathways, and regulatory requirements into a cohesive workflow. The key insight: understanding where patients draw the line between emergency, urgent, and routine care.
Research and design documentation from development phase
A needs assessment survey revealed how patients categorize health concerns and what makes them feel confident using telehealth versus seeking in-person care.
Patient mental models from needs assessment
Mobile-first wireframes and prototypes aligned with patient needs and regulatory requirements for telehealth visits.
Solution
An urgent care video visit experience designed to connect patients with doctors quickly and safely. The experience guides patients through triage, connects them to the right care level, and facilitates seamless video visits — all from a mobile device.
